Teufelsbrücke: The Devil's Bridge was written in 2016
for the Swiss Brass Band, Ensemble de Cuivres Valasian.
A Devil’s Bridge is a term applied to dozens of ancient bridges,
found primarily in Europe which has a corresponding
Devil-related myth or folktale.
Most of these bridges are stone or masonry arch bridges and
represent a significant technological achievement
considered beyond human capabilities,
and therefore had to have been built by the Devil.
The musical content is inspired by Three Melodies (Op.21)
by Hans Huber (1852-1921),a nationalist Swiss composer
whose 165th Anniversary is to be celebrated in 2017.
